Power Packs are a special resource designed to empower children and their parents and/or caregivers by providing in-depth information about selected topics. Each black mesh bag contains books and other materials dealing with either a childhood developmental milestone or an important childhood issue. Each Power Pack also contains an Emporia Public Library Resource Booklet containing a list of related materials available from the Emporia Public Library and related websites and activities where appropriate.
Power Packs are available for two different age groups: Level I Power Packs are designed for children between the ages of 2 and 5. Level II Power Packs are designed for older children (ages 6 and up). Power Packs are designed for parents and/or caregivers to use along with their children. Prior to sharing with their children, parents and caregivers are encouraged to review the contents of the Power Packs for appropriateness for the individual child's developmental level. The development of the Power Packs was made possible by a generous gift from the Loretto A. Langley Trust.
Power Packs may be checked out for three weeks and may be renewed for another three weeks. To renew by phone, call (620) 340-6462. You can also renew online through our catalog.
Patrons with overdue Power Packs will be charged $1.00 per day/per pack.
