MATCH DAY

Last year, the Friends of the Library led a successful funding campaign for a Charlie Cart, a mobile all-in-one food education cart the library uses to help reduce hunger and improve health in Lyon County through hands-on nutrition education and health information literacy programs. Thank you so much to those of you who gave so generously! This year, we want to help expand library services and provide greater access to library materials to more library patrons in our community.
During Emporia Area Match Day, we are raising funds for two library book lockers and a new book drop. One locker will be installed outside the library and one offsite, at a location to be determined on the west side of Emporia. A book drop will also be installed at that location
This project will expand the geographical reach and allow 24/7 pickup of library materials at the lockers for individuals who are not able to visit the library during open hours. Holds will be delivered to the lockers via the Library on the Go book van that was purchased, in part, with our 2019 Match Day proceeds.
We ask that you consider making a gift to the Friends of the Library on Match Day to make the addition of these lockers and book drop to our wonderful library a reality. Please take a moment and consider all the public library has meant to you during your life and what the public library will do for the community in the future and donate to this project today.
The more you give to the Friends of the Library, the more they will receive from the Emporia Community Foundation $70,000 match pool. Donations of cash or checks will be accepted NOVEMBER 18 at the Emporia Public Library during operating hours and at the Emporia Community Foundation or online at emporiamatchday.com/FOL. Please make donation checks payable to the Emporia Community Foundation and note FOL on the memo line.
The Friends of the Library (FOL) believe in the worth of an effective and attractive library. Its members pay a small membership fee and many serve in a volunteer capacity on the Friends Board, on committees and in various roles for the two annual FOL book sales. FOL advocate for literacy and education by providing funding for the library’s programs and materials.
The Friends raise money through used book sales, donations, and FOL membership dues. The library benefits in many ways because of the efforts of the Friends who give thousands of dollars to the library each year for programs. Some members volunteer to assist with library programs for area seniors, adults, teens, and children throughout the year. The Friends are especially proud of supporting the library with funds for
